Talk to Us About Your Shanghai Nanny Placement

Three ways to reach us

Request a consult

Request a placement consultation

Tell us about your family and what you're looking for. We reply within one business day, with practical next steps — not a sales pitch.

By submitting you agree to be contacted by ShanghaiNanny once with a reply. No spam, no sharing with third parties. See Privacy.

We work with about eight to twelve expat families on active placements at any given moment, plus a longer tail of post-placement check-ins and ongoing advisory. The point of this page is to make it easy for the family that fits to start a conversation, and clear for the family that doesn't fit why we might point you elsewhere. There is no candidate list waiting at the end of a contact submission. There is no email sequence designed to wear you down. We reply, usually within 24 hours and often the same business day in Shanghai time, with a candid first read on whether and how we can help.

Inquiry form — what we need to scope a placement

The inquiry form is eight fields. None of them is marketing-driven; each one is something we will need to ask on the first call anyway, and answering them now saves the call for what matters.

  • Name + family-side email — usually the parent who will manage the placement day-to-day.
  • Arrival date in Shanghai — or "already here, starting [month]" if you're already on the ground.
  • Family size + children's ages — drives the role spec more than anything else.
  • Position type — live-in, live-out, part-time, bilingual immersion, yuesao, or "not sure yet." The last option is fine; we'll work it out on the call.
  • Budget band — the closer you are to the actual 2026 Shanghai range, the faster we can scope. If you genuinely don't know, write "need guidance" and we'll send the salary-bands page before our call.
  • Neighborhood preference — FFC, Jing'an, Pudong, Hongqiao, Minhang, Xintiandi, or "deciding."
  • Start-by date — gives us the working backwards from the timeline.

There is also a free-text message field. We read every one.

tip

If you're at the very early stage — relocating in 4–6 months, no children yet, just gathering information — say so. We have a different conversation with pre-arrival families than with families starting in three weeks. Both are welcome; the framing helps.

Book a 20-minute call

Twenty minutes is the right length. Long enough to understand your situation, short enough that we can both pre-block it without rearranging the day. The booking link is on our booking page:

Book a 20-min Shanghai Nanny Chat

Pick a slot that works in your local time and we will confirm. Calls are by Zoom by default; phone is available on request.

Nothing is sold on the call. There is no "reserved candidate" mentioned, because there isn't one — candidate finding only starts after the role is scoped. If your situation is one where we shouldn't take it (e.g., you need a Beijing placement, or the budget is well below 2026 Shanghai market), we will say so and refer you to someone who can help.

Email — hello@shanghainanny.com

For any inquiry that doesn't fit the form, email is fine.

hello@shanghainanny.com — routes via NameCrane to the operator inbox. Replies come from a working email address, not a no-reply.

For partner-agency outreach, journalists, or anyone else who isn't an expat family hiring a nanny: same address; just say so in the subject line and we'll route accordingly. We do not respond to bulk-sales outreach (SEO services, design services, payroll-SaaS demos, etc.) — those go to the spam folder and stay there.

What happens after you send an inquiry

Concrete, in order:

  1. Within ~24 hours — you get a reply from Mike directly. The reply confirms we received the inquiry, names the placement pillar that best fits what you described, and proposes a call slot.
  2. First call (20 minutes) — we walk through the role spec, the realistic salary band for your situation, the timeline, and the contract structure. We tell you honestly whether we should be involved or whether you should hire direct/through a single partner agency.
  3. If we move forward — we draft a one-page engagement summary (scope, fee, timeline) and brief the partner agency. The clock starts on the 2–4-week placement timeline.
  4. If we don't move forward — we send you the playbook PDF and any specific resource that fits, and that's the end. We do not put you on a drip campaign.

Privacy, GDPR, and PIPL

Three things you should know about how we handle the data on this form:

  • What we collect. Only what's in the form, plus the IP address Cloudflare logs for security. We do not run third-party trackers that aggregate your data into ad audiences. Microsoft Clarity is enabled for session-replay (cursor movement, click heatmaps, anonymized) — you can opt out via the cookie banner.
  • Where it's stored. Inquiry submissions land in mike@agileopsai.com via NameCrane SMTP and stay there. We do not load them into a CRM. We do not share them with the partner agency until you've agreed to the engagement.
  • Your rights. Under EU GDPR and China's PIPL (个人信息保护法), you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Email hello@shanghainanny.com with the request and we'll action it within 30 days. We do not sell data to anyone. We do not have a data broker relationship with anyone.

If the privacy framing matters to you in detail, we are happy to walk through it on the first call. Most families care about the substance — that we don't share with partner agencies until you agree — more than the legal recitation.

Frequently asked

Common questions before reaching out

How fast do you respond?
Under `24` hours is typical, often the same business day in Shanghai time (UTC+8). If you submit on a Saturday afternoon Shanghai time, Sunday morning Shanghai is realistic. Weekends are slower but not silent.
Do I need to know my budget before contacting you?
No. The form has a "need guidance" option for the budget band. If you genuinely don't know what `2026` Shanghai nanny salaries look like, we'll send you the [salary bands page](/learn/shanghai-nanny-salary-bands-2026/) before the call and discuss your range against the actual market.
Can I contact you from outside China before relocating?
Yes — pre-arrival families are a substantial part of who we work with. The call is by Zoom or phone; The earlier you start the better; `8–12` weeks before your Shanghai arrival is ideal for a clean placement on landing.
Do you keep my inquiry confidential?
Yes. Inquiry submissions are not shared with partner agencies until you've agreed to the engagement. We do not publish customer testimonials or named case studies — see the [playbook deep-dives](/case-studies/) page for why. Privacy details are in the section above.
Is there a fee to talk?
No. The 20-minute initial call is free, no obligation. We charge the advisory fee only if you decide to engage us for a placement. See the [about page](/about/) for the fee schedule.

In plain English:send the form or book a call — we reply within a day and won't sell you anything on the first call.
